SK telecom has executed an organizational restructuring and executive appointment on Dec. 7 as part of its ambitious leap towards becoming a global AI company. Yoo Young-sang has successfully retained his position as the CEO of SK telecom.
In September SK telecom announced its AI Pyramid strategy focusing on three main areas -- AI infrastructure, AIX, and AI services -- to accelerate its transition into a global AI company. The recent organizational reshuffle focuses on establishing four major business units to drive this strategy forward. The AI Services Business Unit and the Global/AI Tech Business Unit will collaborate with the global PAA to develop a Telco-specialized LLM. They will also support the AIX transformation of existing core businesses, including wireless and wired communication, media, and enterprise sectors. The T-B Customer Business Unit and the T-B Enterprise Business Unit will actively integrate AI across all business areas to discover new growth opportunities. Source: Business Korea
