Korean Air, Korea's leading air carrier, on Thursday unveiled the company's latest in-flight safety video featuring computer-generated virtual human characters.
Produced by Metaverse Entertainment, a unit of Korean game company Netmarble F&C, the five minute-long video features virtual character Rina and virtual K-pop girl group Mave. The video was shared on the company's YouTube channel. In the video, Rina offers safety instructions in a flight attendant uniform while Mave's members assume the role of passengers. The company began playing the video on all flights from Thursday. Korean Air said it marked the first time for a hyperreal virtual human character to be featured in an airline in-flight safety video. The company is the latest in a growing list of Korean businesses, including SK Telecom and Shinhan Life Insurance, that have adopted virtual characters for promotional or operational use.
