The Tokyo-based studio behind the popular Chronos Universe has raised $7.8 million (equivalent to 1.2 billion yen) in the latest funding round that will go into expanding its existing Intellectual Property (IP) on Quest 2 and PSVR 2 headsets.
MyDearest has previously been involved in a publishing initiative aimed at introducing more virtual reality games into the Japanese market.
MyDearest’s latest funding round was led by SBI Investment Co. Also participating in the funding round were NetEase Games, Wing Capital Partners, DG Daiwa Ventures Inc., OLM Ventures inc., Mitsubishi UFJ Group, Samurai Incubate Inc., and Dentsu Group.
MyDearest has been a leading purveyor of virtual reality games in Japan. According to the company’s CEO Kento Kishigami, the latest funding round will help the studio extend its wings beyond the Japanese market and into the rest of the world. Kishigami believes virtual reality technology is key to creating entertainment experiences that would soon be “the common language in a new world.”
