Amazon Web Services (AWS) has partnered with South Korean AI startup Upstage to launch SOLAR MINI, a Small Language Model (SLM) designed to facilitate a broad spectrum of language tasks in Korean and English, with Thai and Japanese support anticipated soon. This initiative aims to simplify the integration of generative AI for Upstage’s customers, enabling the creation of industry-specific applications without the need for extensive model training from scratch.
SOLAR MINI is now accessible via Amazon SageMaker JumpStart and the AWS Marketplace, offering a seamless path for Upstage users to customize the model with domain-specific data. Notable companies such as Metaverse Entertainment, Quora, ConnectWave and Qanda have already leveraged SOLAR MINI’s capabilities to enhance their operations. “Upstage’s SOLAR MINI on AWS is a powerful solution that helps enterprises of all sizes to easily embrace generative AI at the local level,” said Jeongwon Yoon, AWS Korea’s Country Director. He expressed confidence in Upstage’s innovative solution, highlighting AWS’s commitment to supporting local enterprises in adopting cutting-edge AI technologies securely and at scale.
